Sheffield starts slow in loss to AC Valley

SHEFFIELD — Sheffield went into Tuesday night’s game without leading scorer Tyler Hepinger and was unable to come back from a 23-7 first-quarter deficit, falling to A.C. Valley 66-32.

Sheffield outscored the Falcons 13-9 in the second quarter, but after the half gave up two straight quarters of 16. Tony Richards, who finished with 9 points, scored the Wolverines only basket in the third quarter. Conner Johnson led Sheffield with 12 points.

Meanwhile A.C. Valley’s Levi Orton dominated the night with 34 points, spread evenly in both halves with 17 in each. Orton went seven of eight at the line. The Falcons’ Jay Clover dropped 10 of his 12 in the first half.
