Warren boys claim another hoops win

CORRY — Warren shot well on its way to its sixth straight win, a 64-40 Region 5 victory on Tuesday.

Parks Ordiway finished with 17 points, Ben Berdine 15, and the Dragons welcomed back senior Payton Barnes from injury. Barnes finished with 11 points and six assists for Warren (12-4, 8-4 in region).

Corry is 4-6 overall and 1-5 in region.

“Great to have Payton back; he’s such a difference-maker on the defensive end with his communication and ability to rebound from the guard spot,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine.

Senior Ben Berdine scored 9 points in an 18-8 Warren first quarter and the Dragons never trailed.

“I thought we had them on the ropes a couple times in the first half and took quick shots,” said Coach Berdine. “I asked them to be a little bit more patient to start the second half, and we would get good looks. We knocked down the open shots.”

Ordiway caught fire in the fourth quarter for 11 points in a 14-6 finish.

Tommy Nyquist and Berdine added five assists each, and JT Blum grabbed eight rebounds for Warren.

Kody Vega scored 12 points and Anthony Errett 10 in a 43-23 junior varsity win for Warren, earlier Tuesday. Justice Greene added 6 points in the win, and teammates Owen Becker, Justin Rich, and Jack Darling 5 points apiece.
