Tough night for county volleyball teams

BRADFORD, Pa. –Bradford limited the Sheffield attack and took advantage of errors to come away with a 25-15, 25-8 and 25-16 win Tuesday.

The Wolverines had 18 hitting errors and just 10 kills on the night.

“Bradford passes very well and we just weren’t able to find the floor tonight,” Sheffield coach Melissa Lemay said. “We struggled with passing at times tonight and our free balls to them were turned into attacks on their side of the net.”

The Owls were also able to take advantage of the size discrepancy between the schools. Bradford is Class 3A, while Sheffield is 1A.

“They have a large team and are deep in their bench,” Lemay said.

Annabel Sheldon had 14 digs, while Megan Johnson had 13 digs and six assists.

Sheffield returns to its home court Thursday to host another 3A school in St. Marys.

COCHRANTON 3, EISENHOWER 0

COCHRANTON, Pa. – The Eisenhower Lady Knights ran into a buzzsaw, falling at Cochranton 9-25, 4-25, 10-25.

Currie Hultman made her return to the lineup and had two kills for EHS, while Emiley Wheeler had seven digs.

“Cochranton is by far the best team we have played, and they’re in third in our region, which is shocking,” said Eisenhower coach Scott Olson. “We just didn’t have it tonight. I can’t blame the girls, I have to blame myself more. I don’t think our preparation was correct. We had a lot of unforced errors because they (Cochranton) were very aggressive. We just couldn’t recover.”

Cochranton won the JV match, 5-25, 5-25.

Eisenhower returns to action on Friday at Tidioute.
