Dragon boys race past Fort LeBoeuf

UNION CITY, Pa. – Warren cross county turned in a number of strong performances at Union City on Tuesday against the host Bears and Fort LeBoeuf, with the boys beating FLB 23-34.

The Dragons rested some of their top runners, but had a number of others step up. Beau Paris and Brett Sowa finished fifth and seventh for boys, while Erin Yunik and Serena Clarke were 12th and 13th for the girls.

“Today’s meet had a lot of good showings. We ended up not racing our top three girls or boys to play it safe with some illness and nagging injuries we don’t want to see develop into anything,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin.

“Those who did race today really stepped up big; we had a host of personal bests and our boys were able to get a victory against Fort LeBoeuf. That shows a lot grit out of our boys that usually don’t make the scoring five. Our junior high girls also remain undefeated on the season and are looking to keep the good times coming. Very proud of everyone who raced today”

Lauren Dolan captured first place in the girls junior high race as well.

The varsity races were won by Union City’s Esteban Waldmann and Abby Anaya.
