Clarkball to make its return Sept. 23 at Betts Park

Clarkball is back!

The hit game started by Clark Thomas in 2006 will return to Betts Park on Sept. 23 and will also feature music, food and other entertainment.

“It’s the first event since 2014,” Thomas said. “A lot of people have been asking about it.”

Entry for a team is $100, with games starting at 9 a.m. There are three different divisions – Open adult, Youth (10-15) and family division (mix of kids and parents). There will be a ceremonial first pitch thrown out by Vinnie Massa, as well as the national anthem.

For those unfamiliar with Clarkball, it starts with six players on the field per team, two outs per inning and six innings per game using a 6-inch diameter foam Clarkball and 34-inch plastic bat with foam barrel and a 100-foot field.

There are also advertising opportunities – platinum ($300), gold ($200) and silver ($100) packages complete with some unique features.

“We have three different packages for business that want to sponsor,” Thomas said. “We currently have six businesses on board. They’re good packages for businesses that want to sponsor.”

The platinum package includes a full page program ad, a large outfield sign, 3D Wall Art, public address announcements and a logo on the event shirt.

There will also be some unique features to the field themselves, including, of all things, a t-rex, as well as the return of the Big Mac Land.

“You usually don’t get to play baseball or softball, or any sport for that matter against a dinosaur,” Thomas joked.

The entertainment will feature music by Joel Forsgren, $4 Mistake and The Noise Upstairs. There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids, as well as food vendors.

“We’re always excited to have the bands,” Thomas said.

All proceeds are going toward a scholarship that Thomas is planning on starting. For this event, he is working with the community foundation.

The deadline to register is Sept. 18. Registration can also be done at Total Evolution and Thomas also encouraged people to visit the Clarkball Facebook page.

Sponsors already signed up include: Warren Tire Center, United Refining Company, Sabella Land and Forest Products and Total Evolution.

Questions can also be directed to Thomas at 814-779-8898 and the website can be accessed at clarkballevents.com.
