Photo submitted to Times Observer The 10u Dirt Devils from Warren County are currently in the midst of their summer travel softball season. Their latest accomplishment is a first-place finish at the Saegertown Invitational Fastpitch Tournament. Earlier this month, the Dirt Devils also placed third at the St.Mary’s Fastpitch Tournament and placed sixth out of 16 teams at the Girls of Summer Tournament in Hamburg, N.Y. The team will be looking for additional success when they travel to play in the Coca Cola Classic in Depew, N.Y., the Summer Freeze Tournament in Union City, and the Hurricane Tournament in Phillipsburg. Dirt Devils team members are, from left, in front, Kamden Swearingen, Paris Sivak, Payton Frank, Ellie Yeager, Lindsay Madigan, and Emma Gray and, back row, Halle Kuzminski, Emilie Jones, Kylie Fehlman, Alyssa Wismar, and Alana Stuart. The Dirt Devils are coached by Kristy Kuzminski and Carissa Stuart.

Local trap shooters shine at Pennsylvania State Shoot

Four local shooters earned awards during the 126th Pennsylvania State Shoot in Elysburg, Pennsylvania last week.

Laura Spiridon won the non resident Lady 1 runner-up Friday with a 95×100 in the Championship doubles event. She then broke 198×200 in the Championship Singles Saturday to garner the non resident Lady 1 runner-up award again. Spiridon also broke a 96×100 in the handicap championship to bring home the non resident Lady 1 championship. She totaled 389×400 in all three championship events to win the non resident Lady 1 All-Around award by 11 targets over her competitors.

Tiffany Decker, Busti, broke 98×100 to win the non resident Lady 1 award in the Rio Singles event Wednesday. She also hit a 95×100 to win the non resident Lady 1 award in the Rio doubles event Wednesday. Her 98×100 in the Singles Class Championship Thursday gave her the Non resident Lady 1 award for that event.

Chuck Gern, Clarendon, broke a 96×100 in the Federal Handicap event Thursday to win the Resident Senior Veteran award.

Joel Stewart, Tidioute, hit a 91×100 in the doubles class championship Thursday to garner the Class C award.
