Warren’s McCullough signs on to swim at IUP

Warren Area High School senior will continue her academic and swimming career at IUP in 2017.

Warren senior Paige McCullough has signed with Indiana University of Pennsylvania for swimming.

McCullough is the daughter of Mark McCullough and Jennafer Fox.

She has been swimming since she was four or five, a total of 13-14 years. In the past, McCullough has been awarded Team MVP, two District 10 breaststroke championships and District 10 200 relay champion. She has two personal best records; 100-meter breaststroke at 1.19.38 and 100-yard breaststroke at 1.07.42.

McCullough visited IUP, twice and met head coach Chris Villa along with the assistant coach and all her future teammates.

“I stayed overnight on campus with one of the freshman. I got to hang out with the team and to see what it was like,” she said. “I liked how the team could joke around with the coaches. I like how the girls liked the coaches. Not every team is like that. I know some people who hate their coach.”

McCullough described the campus as “not too big, but big enough.” She was also accepted to Penn State University main campus and Michigan State.

“There was a difference of being sixth on a team and being first,” she said. “I knew going to IUP I would get to swim competitively. I would not get to do that at a big campus like Penn State.”

Congratulations and best of luck to Paige McCullough on her journey at IUP.
