Ike boys fall

COCHRANTON – Despite 19 points from Jake Harvey, an early deficit proved to be too much to overcome as Eisenhower fell to Cochranton 57-46 in Region 3 action on Friday.

The Knights (0-4 overall, 0-2 Region 3) trailed 20-11 in the first quarter, came back to tie the game at 35-all in the third quarter only to watch the Cardinals regain control.

“We battled back but had a couple of unlucky breaks,” said Eisenhower coach Dave Allenson. “We got it tied in the third quarter, but turned the ball over a couple times and they were able to take advantage.”

The Cardinals (3-2, 2-0) got big games from Kohl Bernarding and Braden Baker, who scored 17 points each.

“They shot the ball really well, especially the Baker kid,” noted Allenson.

Eisenhower got fatigued late in the fourth quarter, according to their coach.

“We started fouling at the end of the game and they missed a few free throws, but were able to beat us to the rebounds,” he said.

It’s been a tough start to the season for the Knights, who also got 11 points from Jaydon Hayes and 10 from Thomas Warren.

They will get a chance to get on the winning track in the Corry Christmas Tournament when they square off with Titusville on Wednesday. Corry and Union City will be in the other game.
