Lions rout CCSI

The Warren County Christian School Lady Lions had no trouble cruising to their fourth win in New Penn Christian Conference play, outscoring visiting CCSI, 54-35, Friday at WCCS.

The Lady Lions opened up a double-digit lead behind six early points from Allyssa Kerr and scores on back-to-back possessions from Rachel Brenner to end the first quarter.

Kerr continued her strong play underneath in the second quarter, scoring eight more as part of a 24-point WCCS outburst. The Lady Lions went into the break with a 40-11 advantage, and emptied the bench in the second half to ride out the win and improve to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the NPCC.

“Our senior leadership was key,” said WCCS coach Tom Jones. “Dymphee Zortman was back after missing time with a concussion, and Allyssa Kerr was dominant in the first half. Defensively, our press really created problems for them.”

Kerr finished with 18 points – 14 of which came in the first half. Desirae Kerr scored 10 while Zortman and Sarah Parmeter added six each.

Lydia Gillette led CCSI with 17 points in the loss.

The Lady Lions return to action on Thursday, hosting Erie Bethel on parent night at WCCS.
