Warren senior Sandberg 3rd after first day of D10

MEADVILLE – Warren senior Nathan Sandberg is in a really good spot after day one of the two-day District 10 Class AAA Boys Golf Championships on Friday at the Country Club at Meadville.

Sandberg is currently third after a first-day 18-hole 77, just three strokes back of Prep’s Ryan Podeful and two back of second-place Kyle Luben of Meadville. That’s important because the top two in the Class AAA tournament advance to states.

Only eight made the cut on Friday, but Warren junior Andrew Gignac missed the cut by one shot – shooting an 84, one stroke behind an 83 by Zack Ford, of Meadville.

“Nathan is in a real good spot, only three strokes back… and only two strokes back of second (with one day left on Saturday),” said Warren coach Dan Passmore. “Andrew had a great year and really didn’t play as well as he can. He’s right with these guys (and has his senior season left).”
