Warren keeps hold of second place with win

CORRY – The Lady Dragons maintained their hold on second place in Region 4 with a 2-1 win over Corry on Wednesday night.

“We came out and possessed the ball pretty well,” said Warren coach Bob Domville. “The girls are coming together; we had a couple people out and still had nice build up play.”

Summer Rosendahl put the Lady Dragons up a goal when she took a pass from Emilia Beuger and beat the Corry keeper. Beuger made it a two-goal lead shortly after on a corner kick from Emma Kridler.

“Summer had a couple good shots in the second half; Amy (Castagnino) had chances also,” added Domville. “Amy had a really strong game at center midfield and Emi did a very good job up top today.”

Corry scored late in the game, but it Warren held off the comeback attempt to improve to 4-8-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the region. Bradford – which competes out of District 9 – defeated Titusville on Wednesday to remain in control of Region 4 with a 5-0 record. The Lady Dragons would earn an automatic berth into the District 10 Class AA playoffs by finishing second to the Owls.

Warren hosts Conneaut in a non-region game Saturday at War Memorial Field. Varsity start time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with JV to follow. The Warren boys host Saegertown at 1:30 p.m.
