Warren blanks Conneaut for region win

CONNEAUTVILLE – Warren’s boys’ soccer team improved to 8-5 overall and 7-1 in Region 4 with a 5-0 road win over Conneaut on Monday.

The Dragons stormed out to a 3-0 lead at the half on goals by Jason Tipton, Quinn Boger, and Bryce Bauer. Bauer had the assist on Tipton’s goal while Steffen Blair set up the goals by Boger and Bauer.

Boger notched his second goal to start the second half on a pass from Tipton, and Blair connected with Simon Smith for his third assist of the afternoon.

Clark Eason stopped five shots to earn the shutout win in goal.

With the regular season beginning to wind down, the Dragons currently sit in second place behind Bradford (13-1, 8-1) in the region standings. Warren and Bradford are scheduled to meet Wednesday, Oct. 15 in a match that could potentially decide the Region 4 Champion, however, the Dragons would still receive Region 4’s automatic qualifier into the District 10 Class AA playoffs with a second place finish as the Owls compete out of District 9.

The Dragons are back in action on Thursday, hosting Titusville on senior night at War Memorial Field.

Michal Shingler scored an unassisted goal to propel Warren’s junior varsity team to a 1-0 win.
