Lady Dragons top Oil City 2-1

OIL CITY – On a rainy night in Oil City, the Lady Dragons used a pair of second half goals to down the host Oilers by a score of 2-1 in Monday’s Region 4 match.

“It rained right at the start and made the field conditions kind of slick,” said Warren coach Bob Domville. “Both teams had to battle the elements. We had a couple opportunities early; just couldn’t get a handle on it.”

The first half remained scoreless after near goals by Kathryn Lobdell and Morgan Danielson.

Warren broke the scoreless tie early in the second when Summer Rosendahl found the back of the net on a pass from Emilia Beuger. Lobdell made it a two-goal lead, assisted by Amy Castagnino, and the Lady Dragons held on for the win despite Oil City pulling within one midway through the half.

“It was back and forth for a while,” said Domville. “They were able to get some pressure on goal; they actually plowed into our keeper, Paige (McCullough) and Justine (Lasecki) came in. Both did a nice job tonight.”

Warren improves to 3-8-1 overall with a 3-1-1 mark in league play, good for second in Region 4 behind Bradford (9-4-1, 5-0-0).

The Lady Dragons visit Corry on Wednesday for a varsity-only contest beginning at 4 p.m.
