ANF delays trails openings
The Allegheny National Forest announced Thursday that its ATV trails and the Spring Creek Horse trail will not open on Friday, May 23 as previously scheduled.
The decision to delay opening the trails, according to an ANF press release, was necessary due to recent weather conditions that caused heavy flooding across parts of the forest and the potential for resource damage as a result of those conditions. Rainfall totals across the forest ranged from three to four inches over the past 36 hours, according to the press release.
Trail conditions will be assessed daily and an announcement will be made as soon as conditions allow for their opening. The public is encouraged to check regularly for updated information, either on the Allegheny National Forest website www.fs.usda.gov/allegheny or by calling the supervisor's office, 723-5150; Marienville Ranger District, 927-6628; or Bradford Ranger District, 362-4613.
