Accident victim extricated

July 9, 2013
The Times Observer

A near-head-on accident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. Tuesday between Walker Avenue and Maplewood Street on Route 62. State police reported that Patricia Stitzinger of Warren was driving a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Equinox when she lost control on the wet roadway and slid into the path of a southbound 2010 Ford Escape. Police said Stitzinger refused treatment at the scene, but the driver of the Ford had to be extricated and was transported by ambulance to Warren General Hospital with injuries of unknown severity. Traffic was blocked in both directions, and diverted to secondary roads for nearly two hours. Police said Stitzinger was cited for not driving at a safe speed. Conewango Township Police, Russell and North Warren volunteer firefighters and Alstar Emergency Services assisted at the scene.
