Three big innings by visiting Franklin spoiled Eisenhower baseball's Senior Recognition Day as the visitors handed Ike a 16-0 setback, Tuesday, at Werner Park in Russell.
From the start, the Knights from Franklin jumped on the local club of Knights. Franklin scored four times in the opening inning until relief pitcher Ryan Williams entered the game and helped keep the contest close.
The strong pitching effort of Williams carried into the fifth inning before the defense behind him allowed Franklin to put together another strong surge. Franklin scored four times in the fifth and eight more times in the sixth to complete the 16-0 final.

And a cloud of dust
Eisenhower’s Shane Arford, right, looks to the umpire for the call after being tagged out while trying to steal third base during the third inning of a baseball game with Franklin Tuesday at Werner Park in Russell. Arford and the Knights were defeated, 16-0.
Eisenhower struggled with offensive production early in the season and, after a couple of strong offensive games, those struggles returned today. Franklin pitching limited Ike to just two hits - a first inning single by Casey Vincent and a third inning double by Shane Arford.
Eisenhower (3-9) is right back in action Wednesday when it visits Lawrence Park to battle the Iroquois Braves.
