WATERFORD - Warren coach Mark Bupp called it a "missed opportunity."
In a rematch of last season's District 10 Class AAA title game, Fort LeBoeuf did all of its damage in one inning and Warren was unable to fully take advantage of its chances during a 3-2 loss Monday at Fort LeBoeuf High School.
"It was just one inning," said Bupp. "They were able to package some hits together today and we were not. We've been doing that all season, but today it didn't happen. We just didn't perform at the plate and honestly didn't execute as well as we could have defensively. Still, it was just a one-run game. Today was just a missed opportunity. The game was right there for the taking, but we didn't take it."

Returning the favor
Sheffield’s Brandy?Rockwell comes up throwing after tracking down a ball hit into the outfield during game one of Monday’s softball doubleheader at Sheffield Area High School. Ridgway won both games by scores of 13-10 and 15-0.
The loss drops the Dragons to 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in Region 7 play. They will host Fort LeBoeuf later this season in a May 9 contest at Hawbaker Field.
Warren led early in Monday's game, scoring a run in its very first at-bat. Kaitlin Ishman and Jaimie Eaton both walked and moved to second and third on a sacrifice bunt by Alexa Bupp. After a potential run was erased on the bases, Eaton scored on an RBI single from Erica Blair.
That 1-0 lead would hold until the fourth inning when the Bison did all of their damage, scoring three runs to take control of the game.

"They were able to package together five hits in the inning," said Bupp. "A couple of those were just out of reach of our infield. They had two doubles in the inning and that accounted for most of their scoring."
The Dragons were able to cut into the deficit in the fifth inning, trimming the lead to 3-2. Kennedy Walter led off with a single and scored on Ishman's RBI triple. Ishman's triple was Warren's only extra base hit of the game.
Warren would go on to load the bases in the inning, but was unable to plate the tying run.
"We loaded the bases in both the first and fifth innings," said Bupp. "We just didn't get that hit we needed to bust the game open."
Warren will try to get back on the winning track Tuesday when it visits Erie East for a doubleheader.
Ridgway 13, Sheffield 10, Game 1
Ridgway 15, Sheffield 0, Game 2
The Sheffield Wolverines suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Ridgway Monday, losing by a score of 13-10 in game one and 15-0 in game two at Sheffield Area High School.
"We had way too many errors," said Sheffield coach Traci Vile. "It was a bad day. Defensively we're solid in practice. We just need more game experience."
Ridgway jumped out to an early lead in game one, but the Wolverines answered in a big way, taking a 4-2 lead after one inning of play.
The Elkers put up five runs in the top of the third to retake the lead before the Sheffield bats heated up again. Mary Fiscus had a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Kameron Orinko and Hannah Vile to get Sheffield within one.
The Wolverines set up for another rally in the fifth when Sami Pollock and Zarah Pratz drew walks and Maddie Fiscus was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Brooke Hoffman cashed in with an RBI single, Vile ripped a double down the line to score two and Mary Fiscus brought in one more run on a fielders choice to give Sheffield a 10-8 advantage.
The last momentum shift in a game filled with them belonged to Ridgway. The Elkers countered with four more runs in the sixth and one last tally in the seventh to complete the scoring at 13-10.
Vile finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in game one while Hoffman and Mary Fiscus added two hits of their own with one and two runs batted in, respectively.
The momentum stayed with Ridgway in game two as the Elkers cruised to a 15-0 win on the strength of a 10-run second inning. After giving up a hit to Sheffield's Maddie Fiscus in the first inning, Ridgway starting pitcher Hollie Schneider was unhittable as she blanked the Wolverines the rest of the way.
Sheffield (1-7) will compete in another doubleheader Wednesday in Johnsonburg.
