Bad decisions

June 3, 2013

Dear editor: Having recently moved back into the area during the best time of year to do so, one has to wonder if the people left in charge of running Warren County events suffered a collective......

"they would get you for public intoxication." Hey, dumbass; you do NOT have a right to be drunk in public. In fact, being drunk in public marks you as a disgusting slob. Perhaps it is understandable why you drink to play ball; you can't catch, hit or throw worth a darn while sober, can you? But drunk, you become Bobby Bonds (or at least your hat size is comparable). If you want to get soused, do it on your property and stay there; don't puke on mine, or on public property. It puts you right down there with the rest of the pig-slop hogs.

I don't drink and never understood why anyone would intentionally ingest something to give up control of their faculties. However, I do believe that leaving a car at a ball park IS a prudent step to enhance public safety and does no harm. The rib fest move to the fair grounds may have been done to take advantage of any stray swine that may have been inadvertently left behind after the fair. I think this is a very poor decision and will have a detrimental effect on attendance. I certainly won't drive out there. Have at it Youngsville/Pittsfield.

Warren in such a tourist spot that they need to send some of it out of town. Not. They talk about bringing business in but they hold them at the gates. And these people are in charge? And as for the ball fields. It's like gun control. They are punishing the people who are acting responsible. Even if you didn't get a ride and you walked home, they would get you for public intoxication. Next thing you know, softball players are going to need parking permits. The concern should be for public safety. I know in my younger days that there were several times that I knew not to drive because I was drinking, and I left my car and retrieved it in the morning. Good thing that was then and not now. As the Joker said "This town needs an enema"
