The left turn light (arrow) advances traffic flow by trying to allow those vehicles to turn ahead of oncoming traffis who would have the right of way. Simply removing that light would make the situation worse.

Making the change likely isn't as simple as flipping some switches with the traffic light sequencing. The status of the controller, which runs the light sequence, as well as the pole and the span wires will need to be reviewed.

Really? Take the left turn light down, problem solved! This isn't rocket science people!

writer10, I believe they are talking about the North end of the bridge turning right onto PA Ave. There is signage stating no turn on red there.

Umm... the TRAFFIC is causing major traffic jams, not the presence or absence of a signal. That area has been jammed every morning for decades.

Why do so many people think that you can not turn right on red at the end of hickory st bridge, there is no sign stating such, nor is there a red arrow on the traffic signal. I don't know who started the rumor that you can't turn there, but it isn't true. Look it up in your drivers manual. This town and it's rumors, I tell ya.
