On teachers

Dear Editor,

I get a kick out of all of the “We Support our Teachers” signs around. They should also say “We Respect our Teachers.” Of course we should support and respect them. They want raises and we cannot support or respect THAT. Now they are going to strike. We already knew that our school board has no regard for the taxpayer as they just raise taxes when they get in a bind. Also, they want raises for administrators and zero for the teachers. So that shows what kind of regard they also have for teachers.

But how about the teachers? What feelings do they have for the students and their families? I thought they had a lot. Now that is open to question. Don’t they realize what disruptions this is going to cause for working families? For the students? I hope the reason is not for unaffordable raises!!

I do realize that the teachers do not want this and they should not be striking at all. When you get a school board that will not negotiate with teachers, want raises for administrators while offering none to teachers, raise taxes when they get into a financial bind, IT MIGHT JUST BE TIME TO REPLACE THE SCHOOL BOARD! It is about time that we get people in there that support our students and our taxpayers as we certainly do not have it now. TEACHERS, DO NOT DO THIS FOR YOUR STUDENTS’ SAKES. IS IT WORTH HURTING THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES???

Thank you,

Barry Keller
