Robert D. “Rick” Heckathorn Jr.

Robert D. “Rick” Heckathorn Jr., 61, of Warren, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Rick was born on July 19, 1961, in Warren, the son of the late Robert Heckathorn and Carolee (Grinnen) Heckathorn. He was a 1979 graduate of Sheffield High School.

For 30 years, Rick worked for Blair and then became the Activities Director at Warren Manor from which he left due to illness. He was affiliated with the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, a member of the Eagles Club and former member of the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, playing cribbage, mowing, and taking care of the property. Rick loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Rick is survived by his wife, Darla Turner Heckathorn, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1987; children, Matthew Johnson and wife Mindy of Sugar Grove, PA, Mandy Proper and fiance Kevin Blakeslee of Warren, and Nicholas Bailey and wife Sarah of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Ethan Russo, Makayla Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Nixon Bailey, Max Ashley, Buddy Blakeslee, and Tyler Blakeslee; siblings, Rhonda Heckathorn and wife Eva of Texas, Traci Helsley of Waterford, PA, and Susan Ward and husband Dave of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by an infant sister, Renee.

A Celebration of Life service for Rick will be held at 882 E. Fifth Ave., Warren, PA, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 2 pm to 5 pm with Reverend PJ Cathcart, pastor, Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, officiating.
