Sybil “Sallie” Weiler Stoffan
Sybil “Sallie” Weiler Stoffan, 88, of Worth Street, Corry, Pa., formerly of Clymer, N.Y., died Mon-day, Aug. 2, 2021, at the Corry Manor.
She was born April 16, 1933, in Warren, Pa., a daughter of the late Bur-dette and Doris Chapman Weiler.
Sallie was raised and educated in Warren and graduated from Warren High School in 1951. She then attended and graduated from Edinboro University in 1955 with a bachelor degree in education. While at-tending college, she lived with the Phil Walker family whom she cherished and became extended family, remaining close through present time.
Sallie taught in Warren and Youngsville schools before starting with the Corry Area School District. She subbed in the district from 1973 to 2002 and volunteered at Columbus Elementary from 2003-10. She also helped her hus-band operate their family beef farm in Columbus. She moved to Clymer after his passing to be with her daughter.
She was a member of the Abbe Reformed Church in Clymer, N.Y. Sallie was a Hospice volunteer and a Brownie leader. She en-joyed flower gardening, bird watching, reading and was a Penn State football fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and family gather-ings.
In addition to her parents, Sallie was preced-ed in death May 4, 2002 by her husband, Albert Stof-fan, whom she married Feb. 19, 1965 in Warren, Pa.; a daughter, Mary Goodman; and a sister, Jean Cameron.
Sallie is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Applebee and her husband, Dale of Clymer, NY.; a son-in-law, James Goodman of Alex-ander, N.Y.; two sisters: Susan Reynolds of Anacortes, Wash., and Cloie Hollingshead of War-ren, Pa; two grandchildren: Zachary Goodman and William Applebee; two great-grandchildren: Rachel and Wyatt Applebee; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Abbe Reformed Church, 595 Clymer- Sher-man Road, Clymer, N.Y., on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service there at noon and will be live streamed on the Bracken Funeral Home Facebook page at noon. Pastor Thom Daubenspeck and Pastor Les Utegg will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Tho-mas Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
