David M. Warner

David M. Warner, 89, of Youngsville, Pa., passed away Monday, July 19, 2021, at the Rouse Warren County Home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 1, 1931, in Youngsville, to the late Donald and Eva (Stickles) Warner.

Dave graduated from Youngsville High School in 1951, where he excelled at football and basketball. Dave served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55 during the Korean War. He served aboard the USS North Hampton. When he returned from the U.S. Navy, he met the love of his life, Shirley Groves Warner, whom he married Dec. 1, 1956, in Irvine.

Dave worked at the National Forge for 38 years as chief chemist. He was a member of the St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, where he served as past council member, finance council, eucharist minister, liturgy committee, usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He was also a member of the Youngsville American Legion Post 658, the Youngsville Men’s golf league at Maplehurst and Mt. Hope in Titusville. Dave and Benny Muczyn-ski were co-founders of the St. Luke’s Chicken Bar-b-Que. He was also a huge supporter of all YHS sport programs.

In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his two daughters: Kimberly (Troy) Mcfate and Lisa (Robert) Rose; three granddaughters: Krystal (Andy) Mummolo, Kelly (Dan) Sullivan, Karissa (Nic) McKinney; a grandson, David DJ Rose; his great-grandsons: Johnathan, Evan, Finley, Ian and Maverick; his great-granddaughters: Lilly, Addie and Gianna; a sister, Jeanne Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Johnson; and his mother-in- law, Ruth Groves Bull.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 420 N. Main St., Youngsville, PA 16371 with the Rev. Father Stephen Schreiber, pastor of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Warren, serving as celebrant. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service in the gathering space. Burial will follow in Youngsville Cemetery with full military honors by Youngsville’s American Legion Honor Guard.
