Violet M. Buchanan

Violet was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of the late Harold and Ena Harding Ackley.

She attended school in Killbuck, N.Y.., and has been an area resident since 1961. Violet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved Christmas and her Christmas decor in her home, enjoyed Thomas Kinkade puzzles, and gardening. She especially loved her family and her many grandchildren.

Violet is survived by three daughters: Dolly Nuhfer and husband, Thomas, of Warren, Pa., Rebecca Linkerhof and husband, Robert of Youngsville, Pa., and Amy Petro of Portville, N.Y.; one son, Daryl Buchanan of Clarendon, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; a sister, Rose of Bradford, Pa.; two brothers: Clifford Ackley of Bradford, Pa., and Robert Ackley of Rochester, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death on Jan. 2, 2007, by her husband, Walter T. Buchanan, whom she married on June 26, 1944; a son, Denny Buchanan in 2006; two sisters: Margie and Annie; her brothers: Pete, Roland, Lawrence, Clarence and brother, Ken in infancy.

Services for Violet will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren, One Main Ave., Warren, Pa.
