Thomas “Tom” A. Jamieson
Thomas “Tom” A. Jamieson departed this world on April 9, 2021. He was raised and lived his life in Tidioute, PA. He loved this town and never wanted to leave. He fought a very hard battle for several months and will now continue on with his after-life journey.
One of Tom’s favorite things was to go for rides each morning and see what he could see. He would sit at the boat launch and watch the river. He would strike up a conversation with anyone. Tom knew a little bit about many, many things.
He was a former president of the Tidioute Sports Boosters and helped coach little league and would umpire in a pinch. He bowled with his brothers Bob and Dick and his nephew Jeff. He had won numerous tournaments and trophies, even had a few 300 games under his belt. He enjoyed four-wheeling on a Sunday afternoon, pic-nicking and shooting the breeze with friends on the outdoor trails. The river-bank at “OH KEE PA” was a serene and special place for camping and fires with the best neighbors’ of many years. So many wonderful memories.
Tom was an avid fisher-man. He showed many people how to navigate and fish for Walleye on the Allegheny River. He was one of the original River Rats of Tidioute and was instrumental in starting the George Jones Memorial Walleye Tournament in memory of the former fish warden of Tidioute.
He loved to hunt and en-joyed hanging out with his boys singing Karaoke at “Camp Ralph”. He had many long-time friends up on McCauley Hill. There were lots of shenanigans with friends, good eats, singing and drinking refreshments. Never needed a reason to go to camp!
Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years Diane Prechtel Jamieson; sons, Matthew A. Jamieson (Good Friend Amy) of Tidioute, PA and Jeremy R. (Tammy) Jamieson of Clarksville, PA; the apple of Tom’s eye, grandson Colton W. Jamieson. He treasured spending time with this young man. Together they loved to shoot, camp and fish and talk lures. Tom took time to ex-plain things and “pittle” around with him.
He is also survived by many family and friends who were all special in their own way. He touched the lives of many, and he will be greatly missed! Till we meet again!
Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA. A celebration of his life will be planned for a later date.
