Neva M. Hagberg

Neva M. Hagberg, 96, of Warren, Pa., formerly a lifelong resident of Lander, died on June 30, 2020, at the Blair Hospice House.

Neva was born April 22, 1924, in Lander, Pa., the daughter of the late John S. Mills and Olga J. Trask Mills. She was a 1942 graduate of Lander High School and attended the Hoff Business College. She worked for Dr. Valone as a medical secretary for 32 years and for Dr. Walters as a bookkeeper.

Neva was the oldest lifetime member of the Lander United Methodist Church, where she held many offices and served as the church secretary for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. Neva was proud of the fact that she never missed a single Lander High School Alumni reunion. She also trained to be a peer representative at Cambridge of Warren.

Neva is survived by a foster sister, Betsy Firth Fowler of Knox, Pa.; her nieces and nephews: Ellen (Dale) Smith of New London, N.C., Dr Aaron Mills and wife, Dr. Linda Blum of Charlottesville, Va., Colleen (Ken) Whitaker of Bell Aire, Md., Marcia Ziki and husband, Donald Vaughn of Warren, Pa., with whom Neva resided shortly before her death, Bridget Napier of Charlottesville, Va., Jane Ziki of Silver Spring, Md., Ann Ziki and partner, Donald VanHuben of Penfield, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews on the Hagberg side of the family.

In addition to her parents, Neva was preceded in death on Nov. 3, 1980, by her husband, Donald V. Hagberg, whom she married in 1950; three sisters: Marian Ziki, Norma Mills and Ruth Mills; three brothers: Vincent “Perk” Mills, Donald Mills, and Leo “Ike” Mills; and an infant sister, Vivian Mills.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, Pa., on Friday, July 3, 2020, from 11a.m. until noon, at which time we will process to the Scandia Cemetery for a graveside service, with retired pastor, Jon Swart, officiating.
