Christina J. Borton, 55, of Lucinda, Pa., formerly of Corry, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020, in a motorcycle accident.

She was born Sept. 16, 1964, in Dunkirk, N.Y., a daughter of Robert Montague of Jefferson, S.C. and Patricia Mann Merchant of Corry, Pa.

Chris was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1982. She worked at Market Basket for several years before staying home to raise and care for her family. Later, Chris worked for Ritz Candy and Berkey’s Nursery. In 2007, she moved to Lucinda, Pa., where she co-owned and operated Chris and Red’s Variety Store with her companion, Donald “Red” Snyder for 20 years, and who passed away in the accident with her.

She enjoyed going to the beach, shopping and mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Chris is survived by three daughters: Jodie Beard and her husband, Johnny from Wake Forest, N.C., Amy Philhower and her husband, Michael of Tidioute, Pa., and Jill Borton and her fiance, Marcus Engle of Corry, Pa; two sisters: Stacy Hennigh and her husband, Gregory of Spartansburg, Pa., and Robin Cole and her husband, Joseph of Jefferson, S.C.,; and a brother, Russell Montague and his wife, Jodee of Spring Creek, Pa.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kali, Awyn, Maya, Logan, Aleah, Natalie, Rozlyn and Gavin; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Relevant Church, 100 W. South St., Corry, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 11 a.m. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate. Due to Covid 19 social distancing and face masks are required.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.

The family suggest donating a child’s book to your local library in Chris’ memory.
