Ellis D. Messenger
Ellis D. Messenger, 93, of the Rouse Home, Youngsville, PA, formerly of Sugar Grove, PA and Busti, NY, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2020, in the Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA.
He was born May 11, 1926 in Beaver Dam, PA, a son of the late Donn and Bernice Emory Messenger.
Before his retirement, he was employed by the Busti Highway Department for over 26 years. In earlier years, he had worked for the former Green Brothers Lumber Company.
Surviving are his four children, Ellis D. Messenger, Jr. of Falconer, NY; David E. (Kandy) Messenger of Naples, FL; Janet (Larry) Oaks of Sugar Grove, PA; Carol (Robert) Austin of Jamestown, NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Gale (Laurie) Dulaney, Terry Dulaney both of Jamestown; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Velma Jones of Jamestown, NY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Charlene Brinkley Messenger, whom he married July 22, 1978 and who died February 17, 2004, a sister, Mary Hinsdale; two stepdaughters, Sandra Dulaney and Mary Dulaney.
Due to the restrictions on public gatherings caused by the coronavirus outbreak, there will be no formal service or visitation observed. Burial will be in the Lottsville Cemetery, Lottsville, PA. You may leave words of condolence to Ellis’s family at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
