Madeline Shanshala

Madeline E. Shanshala, of Warren, PA died Friday, March 6, 2020. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary Elizabeth Costello Eagan. She was predeceased by her husband Walter J. Shanshala, who died on March 17, 2004. Madeline is survived by two children, Mary Elizabeth and her husband, Bryan o Gig Harbor, WA Michael Shanshala of Lander, PA, 3 grandchildren, 1 greatgrandchild, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Madeline was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Ellen Carr, Mary Wilcox, and Ann Foley and 7 brothers, James, Edward, Tom, Eugene, Richard and Joseph Eagan.

Madeline was formerly employed as an operator with Bell Telephone. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the church Altar Rosary Society and volunteered for many years helping with funeral lunches. She also volunteered for 15 years with the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Antique Study Club.

Madeline enjoyed attending concerts at Struthers Library Theatre, reading and tending to her flower garden.

Madeline was a beautiful and sincere person. She had an unmatched sweetness and she was kind to all. She lived by the Golden Rule her entire life. She had a strong faith and lived out her faith daily. She loved her children unconditionally. She lived through good times and difficult times, but always considered herself blessed. She always put others above herself. Go in peace, Dear Mother. We will always hold you dear to our hearts. We were indeed blessed by your grace and love.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, from 6 to 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for the immediate family on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA, with Fr. Richard Tomasone, Pastor, officiating. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery, Warren, PA. Those wishing to place a memorial may do so through St. Joseph Church Education Fund, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA 16365, or to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
