Victoria Ann Hanson

Victoria Ann Hanson, 71, of Warren, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the Warren Manor.

Vicki was born on April 13, 1948, to the late John Russell and Lillian Maxine (Rue) Hanson.

Vicki, a 1966 graduate of Warren Area High School, also attended the State University of New York (SUNY) Fredonia and received her bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University in 1972. She worked for Blair Corporation in the public relations department from 19882007 as well as the Area on Aging/Experience Inc. from 2008 until 2014. She also worked as the director of Travel and Tourism at the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce, NC, from 19791982.

She was involved in the United FundUnited Way Campaign, March of Dimes, Industrial Softball Tournament and Walk with America. Vicki held positions on several boards including the Warren Concert Assoc., the United Fund and the Warren BiCentennial Committee. She was a past president of the Regional Arts Council of Warren County and past acting director of the Allegheny Center for Arts. She received the 2005 Torchlight Volunteer of the Year award from the United Way Campaign and the Outstanding Army Community Service Award, in 1975. Vicki also developed the American Cancer Society’s Warren Newsletter. Music played a large role in Vicki’s life. She was the past president and executive director of the Warren Philharmonic. She was involved in the 1965 National Youth Orchestra Tour of Europe, the Southern Tier Orchestra, the Warren Summer Music School, the Warren Concert Association, the Riverside Chamber Players, and the Philomel Club. She also taught cello and piano. In addition to music, Vicki enjoyed reading, tennis, swimming, gardening, walking, and watching movies.

Vicki is survived by Joel Forsgren, the son of her longtime companion, Mark Forsgren, and Joel’s daughter, Dahlila Forsgren; sisters, Lisa (David) Blair, of Warren, Kristi R. (Gordon Appleby) Hanson, of Washington, DC, and Carol (Foster) Redding, of St. Clair Shores, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her longtime companion, Mark Forsgren; and her brother, Douglas Hanson.

Friends will be received from 47 on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E. Warren, PA 16365. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Brenda Schnick, 607 Conewango Ave. Warren, PA 16365, for the Warren Philharmonic.
