Harlan A. “Butch” Peterson, 65, of Sugar Grove, PA, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, surrounded by his family and Pastor Brian Haight.

Butch was born on May 30, 1953, in Jamestown, NY, to the late Milton and Helen Peterson.

He was a 1971 graduate of Eisenhower High School and served in the U.S. Army for over eight years. Butch was a member of the Amvets Post 50, the Sugar Grove Legion and the Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything involving the outdoors. He especially enjoyed watching his son, Jason, motor cross race at Maple Shade. He loved his family more than anything and was incredibly proud of his grandchildren. Butch will be missed by many, including Debbie’s family.

He is survived by his loving wife Deborah (Baikie) Peterson, whom he married on April 10, 1976; his three children, Tanya (Matt) Swanson, Heather (Stan) Graham and Jason (Sarah) Peterson; his sisters, Mae Brown, Marion Littlefield and Sue Ann Butcher; his grandchildren, Paul, Maya, Madison, Helen, Degan, Logan and Sloane; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harlan is preceded in death by his inlaws Thomas Jr. and Shirley Baikie; and brother inlaw, Ron Baikie.

Friends will be received on January 11, 2019 from 12pm to 1pm at the Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church. A memorial service will follow at 1pm, Rev. Brian Haight, pastor, officiating.

The family would like to thank their very close friend, Rich Gruber and the staff at Hospice of Warren County for the time, effort and love they showed Harlan.
