Paul Phillip Christy

Paul Phillip Christy of York, PA, formerly of Levittown, PA and Weeki Wachee Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the age of 99.

Paul was born in Tidioute, PA, the son of the late William and Blanche (Critchlow) Christy. He was preceded in death by brothers, William (Father Edmund, OFM), John, Roy, and Ralph. In 1946, he and Anna Mae Denial were joined in matrimony at St. Anne’s Parish, Erie, PA. Anna Mae passed away in 2017. He is survived by children Gregory (Nancy) of Altoona, PA, David of New York City, Marcia (Robert Hildebrand) of York, PA, John (Dr. Judith Magann) of Stroudsburg, PA, Sheila (Daniel Kelly) of Levittown, PA, Father William C.S.Sp., of Pittsburgh and eight grandchildren.

Paul was a member of the 30th Infantry Division during World War II. For his actions on November 16, 1944, near Aachen, Germany, Paul was awarded the Silver Star. He also was awarded the Purple Heart.

After his military service Paul went to work on the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired in 1981 after a 36 year career with the PRR, Penn Central and Conrail. He and Anna Mae then moved to Florida where they enjoyed travel and an active social life. They relocated to York, PA in 2015.

Paul was noted for his generosity, hospitality, and strong Catholic faith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 12:30 pm, at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, followed by the Rite of Committal at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown at precisely 2:30 pm. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s memory to the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, 6230 Brush Run Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102.
