Carl Gustafson

Carl M. Gustafson, 91, of Youngsville, PA, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Rouse Suites.

Born September 13, 1926 in Scandia, PA, a son to the late Arvid and Allie (Jespersen) Gustafson. Carl served in the US Navy as a flight medic in the South Pacific, during WWII. Afterwards, Carl became a Youngsville resident where he lived out most of his life on Matthews Run. He worked at MRC Bearings in Jamestown NY as a lathe operator and gauge specialist for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Youngsville American Legion Post #658 and also a lifetime member of the Brokenstraw Fish and Game Club.

Carl loved everything to do with the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman but had a real passion for hunting and trap shooting.

Yearly, he would plant several flower gardens and build a large hobby farm at his residence.

Carl is survived by his children, Sandra Larson of Youngsville and Linda Martin of North Warren; his siblings, Marvin (Marie) Gustafson of Youngsville and June (Ron) Carlson of North Warren; his grandchildren, Keri Daley and Toby Larson; his great-grandchildren, Tristan and Toi Anderson and Viktor Larson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Erma (Ward) Gustafson who died on October 26, 2006; 3 sisters, Angie Huber, Ethel Alspaugh and Anna Alspaugh; and both son-in-laws, Newell Larson and James Martin.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, June 20, from 5:00-7:00pm at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, June 21, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Rouse Home. Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park.
