Robert Withington
NEWPORT: Robert Lee Withington, known best as “Robbie”, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, following a battle with cancer. Born September 15, 1985, Robbie was a native of Pennsylvania and a graduate of Penn State. Vacationing at the beaches of North Carolina as a child ignited an interest in its coastal communities. From a very young age, he always had a love for the outdoors and wildlife. As a Wildlife Biologist with the USDA Wildlife Services, Jacksonville, North Carolina afforded an opportunity for him to fulfill his passion of the outdoors hunting, fishing and loving every day. His life grew more complete following marriage to his wife, Jessica, on May 31, 2014. They established their home last year in Newport, North Carolina. At 32, Robbie’s life ended as it was just seeming to begin.
Left to cherish Robbie’s memory are his beloved wife, Dr. Jessica B. Harrell; his devoted parents, Dennie and Ronda Withington of Pollocksville; only brother, Shawn Withington of Maryland; paternal grandparents, Roy and Sandra Withington of Youngsville, PA; maternal step-grandmother, Hilda Haehn of Pittsfield, PA; parents-in-law, George and Linda Harrell of Snow Hill; sister-in-law, Ashley Harrell Strickland and husband, Cory of LaGrange; a nephew, Hardy Strickland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding Robbie in death are his paternal grandmother, Susan Withington; and maternal grandparents, Donald and Beverly Haehn.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 24, at Calvary Memorial United Methodist Church, 107 W. Greene Street, Snow Hill, NC.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church’s fellowship hall and other times at the home of George and Linda Harrell, 513 Sturbridge Drive, Snow Hill, NC.
