Michael Zimmerman

Michael Asa Zimmerman, 58, of Russell, PA., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at UPMC Hamot.

Mike was born on January 31, 1960 in Warren, PA. He is the son of the late Donald and Carole Moore Zimmerman. A lifelong Mike is a 1978 graduate of Eisenhower High School and after working at the Blair Corporation, he decided to work for himself as he has done for a number of years.

Mike was a member of the Brokenstraw Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and camping. Mike’s focus was raising and training World Class Champion Plott Hounds and Blue Tick Hounds for himself and many others. He was an avid coon hunter and spent countless hours with his dogs. He had won many awards for his accomplishments with his dogs.

He is survived by his fiance’ Cristen Peters, a sister Jacqueline Cable and her husband Andrew, a nephew James Cable of Pittsburgh, and a wonderful role model to his step children, Ethan, Jackson, and Mikayla.

Friends will received at the Cable Hollow Community Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, PA., 16345 on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 10 am until 12 noon, at which time a funeral service will follow, with Rev. Allan Jones, pastor, and Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hale Cemetery.
