Jayne Cable

A memorial service for Jayne will be Tuesday, January 9, at 11 am, at Cable Hollow Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, PA. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.

Born on May 28, 1950 she was a daughter of Phyllis E. (Tucker) Cable and the late Paul J. Cable. Jayne received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Geneva College where she was also a dorm mother after graduation. She briefly worked for a couple of school systems before settling into a career spanning several decades with the Christian School of York. Jayne was passionate about teaching, loved to hear from her former students and avidly followed their achievements as adults.

Miss Cable was a member of the Red Hat Society and was involved in bible studies. In her later years, Jayne loved spending time with her circle of friends young and old.

Jayne leaves two brothers, David A. Cable and his wife, Nancy of Saginaw, MI and John P. Cable and his companion, Donna Wallen of Jamestown, NY; one nephew, Ben P. Cable and wife, Lindsay of Frankenmuth, MI; three nieces, Sarah R. Stevens and husband, David of St. Louis, MO, Bonita Mazzone and husband, Jon of Cassadaga, NY and Allison Lawson of Springfield, MO; and several grand nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many generations of students. She was preceded in death by her sister in law, June Cable.

A special thanks to her healthcare providers, both in York and Gettysburg Hospital, the staff and nurses at Transitions Healthcare and AseraCare Hospice in York.
