G. Dale Bean

G. Dale Bean, 89, of Meadville, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at his residence.

He was born May 1, 1928 in Franklin, a son of Harry and Ruth Karns Bean. He married Wenna Allen February 9, 1957 and she survives.

Dale was a graduate of Cochranton High School and was a Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1950 to 1952, stationed in Germany. A dedicated employee of the city of Meadville, he worked for the Streets Department for 38 years, 25 years as department superintendent, retiring in 1988. He also started Beans Auto Service with his brothers.

Dale was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering with cars, traveling and walking.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Wenna, include three daughters, Karen Heltzel and her husband Jerry of Warren, Donna Bean of Meadville, and Marlene Bean of Flower Mound, TX; a brother, Paul Bean of Meadville; a sisterinlaw, Leatha Smith of Meadville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Clark, Robert, Lawrence, Wayne, Clair, and John Bean and four sisters, Charlotte and Martha Shreckengost, Ruth Ann Stallsmith, and Margaret (Peg) Dunn.

Calling hours will be Monday, January 15th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating.

Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
