Mary Carlson

She was born August 5, 1931 in Akeley, PA, the daughter of Clarence and Mildred Rowley Carlson.

She was a graduate of Warren Area High School class of 1949, Augustana School of Nursing, Chicago, Illinois, obtained her bachelors and masters degrees from SUNY at Buffalo and a masters in nursing from Kent State University.

Mary retired from Erie VA Medical Center as Clinical Nurse Specialist in 1996.

Prior to her employment with the VA, she was a clinical Nurse Specialist at Warren State Hospital and assistant professor of nursing at Edinboro State University.

Mary was a member of the VASA Lodge, attended Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, and was an active participant in an Erie Senior Center.

She is survived by her sisters: Delores Haley, Beverly Himes, and Anne Poleon; her brothers: Clarence (Jack) Carlson and Charles Carlson, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her parents and a brother Harry Carlson.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
