Martin Gage

Martin R. “The Mayor of Frewsburg” Gage passed away Tuesday, (Nov. 22, 2016) at his home.

He was born December 24, 1936 at the family home in Cable Hollow, PA to the late Richard (The Old Bear) and Mildred Gage.

He graduated from Warren High School in 1955 and went to work at Marlin Rockwell until his retirement in 2000.

He married Jean DeLong in 1958 and together they had two children, Rhonda (Al) Merkle and Mark (Jeni) Gage. They divorced in 1986.

In April 1988 he married Marjorie (Trumbull).

In younger years, he enjoyed motorcycles and NASCAR races.

He and Marjorie enjoyed traveling, taking many trips to Florida. They also traveled to Colorado, Alaska, and through the Panama Canal.

They were members of the Gold Wing motorcycle club (The Hell’s Angels) and enjoyed many trips, dinners, and the Warren Christmas Parade. His biggest joy was being in the woods timbering and cutting wood. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Carroll Rod & Gun Club, Samuel L. Derby Post 556 American Legion, Frewsburg, Carroll Lodge 1147 F&AM, the and Vikings Club. He was a regular fixture at the Dinner Bell in Frewsburg.

Surviving are his children: Mark and Rhonda; his stepchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) Wilson and Suzanne (Kevin) Good; grandchildren: Jason (Sabrina) Anderson and Josh Lindstrom; greatgrandchildren: Sierra, Draven, Trenton, and Samyah Anderson; step greatgrandchildren: Brody, Trent, and Dylan Alexander; sisters: Janice (Ralph) Shaffer and Edna Fox; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margie, on June 13, 2016 and his sister, Valerie Craker.

The funeral will be held at 11am Saturday in the Cable Hollow Church, Russell, PA. The Rev. Allan Jones, Pastor, and the Rev. Marcus Briggs, Rouse Home Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. The family will receive friends from 47 pm Friday in The Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
