PRISCILLA CARR

Priscilla A. Carr of 842 Dobson Road, Sugar Grove, passed away after a six month battle with kidney cancer.

She is survived by the entirety of her immediate family, including her parents Frank and Joan Coffaro, her siblings Joseph Coffaro and sister Carol Johnson, her husband Thomas William Carr and her children, Hobart Carr, JoAnna (Carr) Ferman, Elisabeth Carr, Warren Carr, and Thomas Frank Carr, and her grandchildren Graham Carr, Grace Carr, and Carson Ferman. Preceding her in death was her granddaughter Avery Ann Ferman.

Born September 9, 1951, Priscilla graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1969 and then attended Edinboro University, graduating with a degree in Education. She married Thomas William Carr on September 18, 1971. After completing a student teaching in Saegertown, PA, she began her career with a special education job with the TriCounty Intermediate Unit in Meadville, PA. They lived in Meadville for four years, then moved back home to Sugar Grove, living with and caring for her maternal grandfather Hobart Sanders during the completion of their Dobson Road home.

Priscilla lived the majority of her married life devoted to her five children. During the rearing of her children, Priscilla intermittently taught as a substitute teacher before resuming her teaching career fulltime in the early 1990’s. Priscilla landed her dream job of teaching at Sugar Grove Elementary after teaching several years at Pittsfield Elementary. She inspired many students, and felt as though the faculty and staff at Sugar Grove Elementary were her second family.

Priscilla was a lifelong member and attendee of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. She was a member of the choir, and at one time, the treasurer. The congregation has always been a source of love, support, and spiritual guidance for the entire family.

She was a lover of music, theatre, and any activities that her children and grandchildren took part. She was a great cook for a large family and will be remembered for many dishes including her lasagna, dinner rolls, apple pie, German chocolate cake, and strawberry rhubarb pie. Her greatest joy in life was having all of her children at home with her sharing a meal with laughter and love. She will be greatly missed, and always remembered.

Friends will be received at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, May 24 from 46 p.m. and 79 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Saturday May 25th at 11 a.m. Those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Sugar Grove Free Library, 22 Harmon St., Sugar Grove, PA 16350.
