WARREN – At the Parks Recreation and Landscaping Commission meeting on Tuesday, members were presented a report on the 2025 playground program.
The program ran from June 18 to August 9 at Crescent, Lacy and Beaty parks.
According to the report, created by administrative assistant and playground program director Kassie Damcott, 108 children between the ages of seven and 14 were registered for the summer.
Beaty Park averaged the most daily participants with 20 children. Lacy averaged 10 children while Crescent averaged seven.
The Warren County School District was able to provide about 1,000 free lunches to children registered in the playground program.
Throughout the summer, the program provided a variety of trips for the children to attend, including the Audubon, C.A.R. Pool, Warren County Fair, and an Erie Seawolves Baseball game. Children were also given the opportunity to participate in activities while at the parks, such as career days with local organizations and weekly water days.
The PRLC discussed how they can continue to improve the playground program in future years. Ideas included the possibility of adding another park to the program and online registration to help increase child participation.
The playground program will pick back up in the summer of 2026.
