Warren man pleads to child rape charges

A Warren man faces lifetime registration as a sex offender and the prospect of decades in prison as a result of a plea Thursday to charges including rape of a child.

Michael D. Johnson, Canton St., Warren, entered the plea before Judge Gregory Hammond to two counts of rape of a child and two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.

Each of those charges is a first-degree felony and each carries a maximum of 20 years incarceration.

He was charged back in February.

Police identified two female victims who were abused by Johnson between the ages of six and 16 and eight and 17.
