Audubon Celebrating New Year’s Eve on Monday, September 27

Since Audubon Community Nature Center’s fiscal year ends in September, on Monday, September 27, Audubon is celebrating with a virtual New Year’s Eve Party. Participants can look learn of the progress being made and the next steps involved with the Pamela A. Westrom Wildlife Habitat pictured.

With the Audubon Community Nature Center fiscal year ending on Sept. 30, staff, board of directors, members, and volunteers are celebrating the “new” year a little early.

The ACNC virtual New Year’s Eve Party and Annual Meeting will be Monday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will include reflections on the 2020-21 fiscal year, “resolutions” for the year ahead, and a wrap up of end-of-the-year board of director elections.

Participants can take a chance at winning a “uniquely Audubon” game of bingo featuring facts from the past year and from Audubon’s history. They can also expect to learn about the progress that has been made towards meeting existing strategic plan goals, in addition to discussing goals for ACNC’s upcoming strategic plan set to begin in September 2022.

This is an opportunity to learn about the new Hellbender exhibit, the resounding success of the Summer Day Camp program, progress on the development of the Pamela A. Westrom Wildlife Habitat, and more.

Due to the current COVID-19 transmission rates, participants will be “meeting” from the comfort of their own homes, using the Zoom link that will be in their emailed registration receipt. They will receive a “virtual bingo card” via email prior to the event.

The program is free, but reservations are requested by Friday, September 24, through “Upcoming Programs” at AudubonCNC.org.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Anyone can enjoy the grounds, with its six miles of trails, and view Liberty, Audubon’s non-releasable Bald Eagle, dawn to dusk daily, free of charge.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the new Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members enjoy free building admission daily, and building admission is free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members as well.

To learn more about Audubon and its many programs, call (716) 569-2345, find Audubon Community Nature Center on Facebook, or visit AudubonCNC.org. All visitors, volunteers, and staff are required to wear face coverings while inside the building. Any updates to these requirements can be found at the COVID-19 Notice on that webpage.
