Youngsville man jailed on assault charges

A Youngsville man is in Warren County Jail after he allegedly assaulted his mother, sending her to the hospital.

Travis L. McIntyre, 41, of 37 Fifth St., is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.

Police responded to the alleged victim’s home on Thursday, according to the affidavit of probable cause. She told police she argued with McIntyre at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

“The argument got heated and her son grabbed her by the shoulders/head area and threw her to the ground,” police said in the affidavit. “She advised she struck her head against the edge of a door causing her head to split open.”

“She advised that she went to the hospital by ambulance and received 17 or more stitches to close her wound,” police said. “This officer observed a large, stitched wound starting near the victim’s right eye at the bridge of her nose extending up the center of her forehead into her scalp.”

McIntyre was arraigned Thursday evening before District Judge Todd Woodin and taken to Warren County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1.
