TV ad touts county virtues

Screen capture from Warren County Visitors Bureau video A golfer, eager for sunny weather, shows his disappointment of rainy conditions in the beginning of an ad touting better things to come in Warren County.

Simple. Pure. Real.

The television spot touting Warren County’s virtues is appropriate to the snowy forecast.

“It’s that time of year where the weather tests our sanity.”

The Warren County Visitors Bureau prepared the spot which is currently airing in the Buffalo area.

“We made it a couple of weeks ago,” Executive Director Dave Sherman said. “It debuted over the weekend.”

He said the spot is showing on WGRZ and “it was on Ellen yesterday.”

When traveling to Warren County, most people aren’t looking for flashy.

They’re looking for nature.

Especially after a year of pandemic, they are looking to get away from wherever they are.

Many who are from not-so-far-away are looking for golf.

“Western New York loves us,” Sherman said. “And we love them.”

“We’re trying to remind western New Yorkers that we’re a fun place to visit,” he said. “We’ll see you soon.”

He said many visitors come from the Toronto area. Though they are not able to travel here easily now, “it’ll plant the seeds.”

The weather isn’t quite there yet — a snowy forecast reinforces that — but, as the ad says, “Nature will welcome us back…”

The ad opens with a disappointed golfer in the rain. “It won’t make sense by Memorial Day,” Sherman said. By then, the weather will be more welcoming and local golf courses will hopefully be seeing another record year as visitors – whether they’ve seen the ad or not – make their way to sites in the county.

The focus is to the north at the moment, but “I’m sure we’ll move that to other areas,” Sherman said.

Asked about inviting visitors to the county in the midst of a pandemic, he said, “We’re pro-outdoor recreation.”

The video includes scenes from Rimrock, Refrigerator Rock, and the Allegheny River.

“Warren County, Pennsylvania. Simple. Pure. Real.”
