12 new cases, 3 deaths added to county’s total

There were 12 new cases of COVID-19 added to Warren County’s total on Friday and three more COVID-related deaths.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported a total of 968 cases in the county, including 792 confirmed and 176 probable cases. The total number of COVID-related deaths is up to 10, although Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik reported on Wednesday that there had been 21 so far in December. The department has stated that it expects its reporting to catch up to coroners’ numbers in about a week.

The change of 12 is the lowest increase in new cases since there were 12 reported on Dec. 4.

In the two weeks since then, the county has had 586 new cases – or over 40 per day.

The department considers cases that do not result in deaths to be recovered after 30 days. The county could still have 830 active cases.

The county has had 2,450.8 cases per 100,000 population according to the department.

There are six counties in the state with lower rates. The lowest is Sullivan’s at 1,927.2 per 100,000. The highest is Mifflin at 6,414.7.

Statistics for Warren General Hospital remained steady for the second consecutive day, with 21 COVID patients, one using a ventilator, and none in intensive care, according to the department.
