Surge of new COVID cases continue in Warren County

Warren County continues to see dramatic increases in COVID-19 cases.

On Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced 25 new cases. There were 12 new cases announced on Friday.

The addition of 37 new cases brings the county’s total to 231 — 204 confirmed and 27 probable.

The rate in the county surged past the 500 mark on Thursday, and stood at 584.8 cases per 100,000 population on Friday. Cameron County’s 556.5 was the lowest rate in the state.

Areas in the county with new cases include the Warren zip code (15), Russell (2), Sugar Grove (2), Bear Lake (1), Pittsfield (1), Sheffield (1), and Youngsville (3 probables).

Tidioute, Spring Creek, and Clarendon also had new cases.

Tidioute previously had 1 to 4 confirmed cases — the department redacts the exact number when it is greater than zero but less than five — and now has eight confirmed cases.

Spring Creek also had 1 to 4 and now has six.

Every zip code in Warren County had at least one case as of Friday.

On Wednesday, Clarendon had no probable case. That number had moved to 1 to 4 as of Friday.

There were also new cases in the Corry (5), Spartansburg (3), and Titusville (9) zip codes — which include residents of Warren County.

State data indicates that there were eight COVID patients in Warren County hospitals on Friday.

None of those were in intensive care nor were any using ventilators. The department indicates that three of the hospital’s four ventilators are in use, but not by COVID patients.
