State Health Dept. confirms 1 less county case

Warren County has taken a step back — in a good way — in regard to COVID-19.

In Thursday’s Pennsylvania Department of Health COVID-19 update, the county showed 22 cases, including 16 confirmed and six probables.

The last time a new case was identified was Saturday, Aug. 8.

That new case brought the county’s total to 23 cases, 17 confirmed and six probable.

One of those cases was removed on Thursday.

The Department of Health Communications Office responded to a question from the Times Observer about how that happened.

“As COVID-19 cases are confirmed, we conduct a case investigation,” a DOH communications deputy press secretary said. “During these investigations, we will correct any addresses if needed.”

“Sometimes you may see cases, as well as deaths, decrease as the confirmed county of residence may be updated,” the deputy press secretary said.

So, one of the cases attributed to Warren County, Pennsylvania, has been investigated and assigned to some other place.

The reduction brings the county’s cases per 100,000 population to 55.7 — easily the lowest rate in the state. McKean is second with 83 cases per 100,000.
