Harborcreek man killed in Sunday crash

A Harborcreek man was killed and an Erie man was flown from the scene of a Sunday afternoon traffic crash in Brokenstraw Township.

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police responded to the Matthews Run Road at the intersection with Seneca Lane shortly after 3 p.m.

Police say that a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Sandra K. Dumont, 71, Youngsville, was starting to make a left turn from Matthews Run Road onto Seneca Lane

A 2004 Suzuki VL1500K motorcycle, driven by Michael D. Brown, 51, Erie, attempted to stop and avoid Dumont’s vehicle but struck it.

A second motorcycle, driven by Gregory J. Brosius, 50, Harborcreek, “went on its side” in an attempt to avoid the other two vehicle, per police. However, police say, Brosius “fell off his motorcycle causing fatal injuries.”

Brown was flown from the scene to UPMC Hamot for treatment of what police described as suspected serious injuries. Dumont was transported via private vehicle to Warren General Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

Police say that Sugar Grove, Youngsville and Lander VFDs assisted at the scene in addition to Emergycare and State Medivac.

Police indicate that the investigation is ongoing.
