Tidioute woman charged for shooting man 3 times

A Tidioute woman has been charged with attempted homicide after allegedly shooting a man three times during a domestic dispute.

Samantha J. Daelhousen, 32, of 157 Orchard Lane, Tidioute, faces one count of criminal attempt – criminal homicide, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, two 911 calls were made from 157 Orchard Lane shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday.

The first was regarding a domestic issue.

Police were en route to the scene when the second call came through.

“During the second telephone call, Daelhousen stated, ‘I shot my kid’s dad’,” according to the affidavit.

Troopers arrived moments later, according to the affidavit, and “found (the victim) outside the residence with several apparent gunshot wounds.”

Through interviews “of persons present prior to and during this incident,” police were told “the defendant had used a .38 caliber pistol to shoot (the victim) at least three times,” according to the affidavit. “The investigation also culminated in the discovery and seizure of the .38 caliber pistol.”

An investigation of physical evidence at the scene by the State Police Forensic Services Unit “corroborated the interviews previously conducted,” police said in the affidavit.

The victim, who was identified by police, was transported from the scene for treatment of gunshot wounds. Officials at Titusville Area Hospital said he was treated and transferred.

Daelhousen was arraigned before District Justice Raymond Zydonik Thursday night at the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Starbrick.

Zydonik explained the maximum penalties the charges could carry if Daelhousen were convicted on all counts and a judge imposed the maximum sentences. “39 years is the worst case,” he said. “$70,000 in fines.”

When Zydonik explained that she had the right to an attorney and, given the seriousness of the charges, would have to have an attorney, Daelhousen said Attorney Rob Kinnear is representing her.

During her arraignment, Daelhousen asked Zydonik, “can I go home and see my boys tonight?”

“Given the nature of this case and the charges before me, you are not going home,” Zydonik said.

He explained that if the charge were homicide, he would have no choice but to have her jailed without bail. However, since it was attempted homicide, “this is a bailable charge.”

She was taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $500,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 6.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Daelhousen asked what the victim would be “getting charged with.”
